Last week, I was going through my Discover Weekly playlist on Spotify and found this new pop artist Emily Burns, her music was catchy and the lyrics were interesting and that’s all I love in music. So I naturally wanted to find out more tracks from her and I stumbled upon an event page about her concert happening on 30 July. I didn’t understand how she was holding a concert in the current situation and then reading further I found out that it was a virtual concert! I also found out that the concert benefits were being donated to AKT, a charity which supports LGBTQ+ young people aged 16-25 in the UK who are facing or experiencing homelessness or living in a hostile environment.
So I bought a ticket to experience my first virtual concert. 15 minutes before the concert, I received a link and a special code to enter a private Youtube live broadcast and for the next hour, Emily was on stage singing some bangers. This experience definitely brought up a point that maybe going forward, this could be a very viable way to enjoy concerts. Getting front row seats all from the comfort of my own home, the one thing that did lack was the environment in which you are singing with the whole crowd in unison. But as someone who loves listening to music, I’ll take whatever options I get to enjoy some live music and this definitely was a very positive and fun experience. Until next time then folks!
